OCCHIOMAGICO
"The Human Condition"
The man, alone, in front of the universe tries to win his fear,
He is assailed with fear every time a star falls.
The man, with other men, tries to keep peace and is assailed with war.
Giancarlo Maiocchi

Ashvin Gatha is an international photographer-journalist working around the world on editorial, corporate-identity and industrial photography. He lives in Vevey, Lausanne, Switzerland.
The key trademark of Ashvin Gatha's work is colour and graphics and this has been aptly described in The British Journal of Photography by Ainslie Ellis:
"None, I believe, can ever have risen so fast, travelled so far, or have begun from so unlikely a start, as Ashvin Gatha. His life story suits such exotic, vital and eloquent colour photography and he photographs colour better than anyone else who's work I have ever seen"
The work of Ashvin Gatha has been viewed at many exhibitions throughout the world. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the National Library in Paris. He has worked for numerous magazines: National Geographic, Asia Magazine, L'Hebdo Magazine, Geo, Sunday magazines and many more.
His commercial work clients include everything from multinationals to charity organisations and international airlines to Swiss cheese producers. He works with renowned designers such as Allan Flatcher in London, Toni Palladino en Shin Tora in New York, Subarshan Deer in Bombay, Igarashi in Tokyo and Gerard Lebet in Switzerland. Even if you have only seen a small part of his work - you get the impression that he has used his time exceptionally well.
trends006 2000 © TRENDS in 1990's: 'Dennis SAVINI (Switzerland)' contact
Dennis Savini and Iréne Ruefenacht are two photographers who both like to work in their studio on still-life but also internationally for annual reports. Their personal art photography inspires their commercial photography."Iréne and I work as a team! Most of all we do still-life photography (we see portraiture or nude as still life as well). The most important thing for our work is the idea, which has to include information as well as being simple to understand. Thereafter comes the light which blows life into our thoughts and gives them atmosphere and colour. This work, connecting creativity and beauty is of a kind which makes us deeply sastisfied and sometimes very tired too."
Dennis is eager to use new techniques. He is well-known for stunning studio work and recently produced a book of stereo/3D photography. He is regularly invited to give masterclass workshops for professional photographers by Sinar Ag Schaffhausen. Co-ordinator: 'Between Ideal and Reality' (Galerie 24 16.4.94 - 21.5.94) an exhibition of young Swiss photography which featured eight young talents from different fields of photography. This exhibition gives an insight in the current Swiss photo scene.

Ki Ho Park's photographs - Past in Pictures
Ki Ho Park's Photographs are full of news - the latest and powerful. Today, they are stunning record of the sharpen of our presence. Over 10 years, the pictures taken by Ki Ho Park made living into art itself, and the public loves him for it. Year after year, month after month, his photographs have remained signatures, often an inspiration for his contemporaries. They signal a distinct, fine tradition. Through his photographs, our vision of the world expanded to include people, places and ideas that everyone didn't already know but should. He introduced us to people from distant social circles across east, across west and in between. From the start, Ki Ho Park has sought for the truth in life. His graduating thesis at Rhode Island School of Design showed his early understanding of compassion. Who ever and where ever his subjects were, such as his early works of refugees in Thailand and their search for reunion with relatives, Ki Ho Park made sure that nowhere would those dreams come truer than in his photographs.
Ki Ho Park's turning point came while he worked at the Magnum photo agency in New York. In New York, he saw through the eyes of Bruce Davidson, Cartier Bresson and other Magnum photographers whose work was published for audiences too accostumed to seeing the good (not enough bad). With Bruce Davidson Ki Ho Park discovered the wonder of printing b&w and color works for his archive as well as for his 'Subway book New York'. With Bruce Davidson Ki Ho Park learned how to conjure insightful images whatever the subject was.
Today Ki Ho Park shoots regularly for such demanding clients as AT&T, Businessweek, Fortune, Forbes, Sam Sung and Deawoo. His compassion and sensitive eye for visual perception has earned him the reputation that clients come back year after year.

"We are convinced that the key to our future lies in understanding how other cultures communicate."
This credo describes the reasoning behind Robert Schilder's creation of Circle 24 , the foundation for leading photographers from all over the world.
Robert studied at the College of Photography in the Hague. After eight years working with Philips in their Photographic and Corporate Industrial Design departments, Robert established his own studio in Eindhoven in 1978. Since that time he has built up an impressive client list of national and international companies and advertising agencies. He has been invited to give workshops at academies from India to Scotland.
An unstoppable force, Robert launched himself whole-heartedly into the project "The Other Way of Seeing" immediately after officially establishing Circle 24. This project was an exhibition of vintage and contemporary Indian photography spanning 130 years, which clearly shows that the photographic manner of seeing in India is very different to that of the western world. To collect information and material for the project, Robert spent three months tirelessly travelling the length and breadth of India, meeting with photographers and studying their work. The exhibition was shown in several locations including the Museum of Anthropology, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Baden-Baden and East Berlin.
In 1994 Robert turned his energy towards opening Galerie 24, the first Centre for International Photography in the Hague. The gallery serves as a meeting place for the members of Circle 24 and presents new ideas and contemporary trends in photography, through regular exhibitions and a series of professional workshops.

Passion.
That, above all, characterizes the work of Canadian photographer Taffi Rosen of Red Head Studios, Toronto. Within little more than a decade she has produced an astonishingly varied body of work that attests unequivocally to her ability to photograph anyone and anything, anywhere and imbue even a seemingly mundane subject with an extraordinary appeal, urgency and vitality. Her photographic images demand to be both seen and experienced. Not surprisingly, her work has appeared in a number of prestigious international exhibitions and publications.
